Lipoaspiration / lipofilling (lipotransfer).

Liposuction of the face is a highly requested facial refinement procedure and we generally associate it with others such as lifting, mini lifting, or lipotransference in facial areas where we need volume (cheekbones or chin for example).

It consists of the extraction of unwanted excess fat.

  • The procedure begins with the placement of local anesthesia and subsequent treatment of the fat with a laser-lipolysis device that will produce a retraction of the skin avoiding subsequent flaccidity.
  • Second, we proceed to aspiration with a microcannula to improve the jawline, the submental region (double chin), or the neck, for example.
  • Within the post-operative indications, the patient will be asked to use a special elastic compression garment that covers the operated areas for at least a week.
  • The procedure achieves very good results when it is well indicated, in patients with excess fat along the jawline, submentum, and neck and also with good skin elasticity, and with little to no facial flaccidity, that is, platysmal bands. minimal (or absent).

Duration of the procedure: 1 hour.

Anesthesia: Local, or intravenous sedation.

Hospitalization: Outpatient.

Recovery time: 4 to 7 days.

Lipotransference or Lipofilling:

Its an auto-transplant of the patient’s own fat, also called auto-fatgraft .

The procedure begins with the placement of the local anesthetic, (THE LASER IS NOT USED in order not to damage the adipocytes) and very delicate liposuction is carried out through a small 2 mm incision. The graft is usually taken from the abdomen or inner thigh. The aspirated fat is processed and prepared to be grafted onto the desired areas.

Next, the fat is injected using microcannulas, it is distributed evenly in the area, by injecting tiny amounts into the tissues, in such a way that this fat is surrounded by healthy and vital tissue that can provide oxygen and other nutrients so that it becomes firm and be able to  survive the lipograft.

The worked areas can swell, especially the lips, for this reason, it is important to use local cold for the first 3 days, in addition to rest.

It is good practice to discreetly “over-correct” which means injecting a little more fat than is needed because 25 to 30% of the transplanted fat cells will be reabsorbed.

The final result is appreciated after three months, therefore a second intervention may be necessary to refine/compensate for any loss of volume in the treated areas, after this the result can be considered permanent.

An additional positive effect is the excellent improvement of the quality of the skin of the treated areas.

Indications:

  • Loss of volume in the cheeks (sunken).
  • Depressions in the temple.
  • Loss of projection in cheekbones.
  • Loss of chin projection.
  • Nasogenian and deep labiogenian sulci.
  • Lip augmentation in case of rejection of biocompatible products.
  • Correction of sequelae of other procedures.

Duration of the procedure: 1 hour.

Anesthesia: local, or intravenous sedation.

Hospitalization: Outpatient.

Recovery time: 4 to 7 days.
